What Is SEBS YH-503T? Applications, Properties and Benefits for TPE Compounding

SEBS YH-503T: A Practical Material for Soft-Touch and Modified Plastic Applications

SEBS YH-503T is a linear hydrogenated styrene-butadiene block copolymer. In simple words, it is a thermoplastic elastomer that combines rubber-like flexibility with the processing convenience of plastic. It can be processed by common plastic processing methods and does not require vulcanization like traditional rubber.

One of the key features of SEBS materials is their hydrogenated structure. Compared with SBS, hydrogenation helps improve resistance to oxygen, ozone and UV degradation, giving SEBS better aging resistance and weatherability. This makes SEBS suitable for applications where softness, elasticity and long-term stability are required.

YH-503T is designed with high molecular weight and is commonly supplied in white powder or granule form. According to available technical data, it has a styrene content of around 33%, solution viscosity of 2000–3000 mPa·s at 10% and 25°C, tensile strength of at least 16 MPa, elongation at break of at least 400%, Shore A hardness of at least 70, and hydrogenation degree of at least 97%.

Because of its balance of strength, elasticity and aging resistance, SEBS YH-503T is widely used in TPE compounding and polymer modification. Typical applications include soft-touch products, toys, handles, grips, sealing strips, wire and cable materials, plastic modification and other consumer or industrial products.

For compounders, SEBS YH-503T can be blended with oils, resins, polyolefins and other additives to achieve different hardness, hand feel, elasticity and processing performance. This gives formulators flexibility to design materials for different end-use requirements, from soft and flexible parts to modified plastics with improved toughness.

In practical use, the final performance will depend not only on the SEBS grade itself, but also on the complete formulation, processing conditions and target application. Therefore, we recommend laboratory testing before commercial production.

At TollChem, we can support customers with SEBS YH-503T supply, technical data sheets, sample arrangement and export service. If you are looking for a SEBS material for TPE compounding or plastic modification, SEBS YH-503T can be a practical grade to evaluate.
